The Teen Summer Musical continues to create access and break ground for young stage artists of Color. For more than 25 years, this Seattle signature program has been an exhilarating summer staple for hundreds of kids, their families, and the thousands that get the privilege of experiencing this one of a kind brand of “chocolatized” musical theater!
Story Summary - “Dream!” - a spirited story about teens who are obsessed with making their most vivid imaginations come true while being stunted by the paralyzing commentary of a society that can’t see past the day to day reality. It’s a highly choreographed battle between dreams rising vs dreams deferred.
Written and directed by Isiah Anderson, Jr., this Broadway meets 90’s sitcom styled production is a challenge
to conventional thinking that is elevated by the music of Cedric Paul Thomas and given wings by emerging
choreographer Myke Hodges.
In partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, the Teen
Summer Musical is managed by Acts On Stage, a
community theater founded by Michelle Lang-Raymond
and Anderson. Executive Director Lang-Raymond calls
this “the most exciting time of every year!” This family
friendly show runs August 18 - 27, 2023 at the historic
Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute with daytime
matinees for summer programming convenience!
