Coach Lorrita Williams and her team, "The Future," have done it again! For the 5th straight year in a row, she has coached “The Future” to become the undefeated champions of the YMCA’s Youth Basketball League for 5th and 6th graders at the Meredith Mathews YMCA. Coach Williams and the players proved themselves yet again, winning every game this season, including several by significant margins. Coach Williams faced challenges this year from other coaches trying to defeat her and her team. They did not succeed.
Many of the players had positive things to say about Coach Williams and playing basketball this year:
“Basketball is a team sport, and I like being part of The Future.” – Emon, 1st Team Captain
“I like that Coach Williams wants to win and be undefeated! She makes practices challenging instead of playing it safe.” – Maddox
“This was my first year playing on the team. I really like getting stats and playing defense.” – Liam, aka "Big L."
“I like the adrenaline rush. Coach always reminds us that we need to guard our man.” – Alfred
“Coach [Williams] is a basketball and a life coach! She makes sure we work together, as a team.” – Jackson, 2nd Team Captain
Coach Williams appreciates all of the players trying their hardest not just in the games, but also at every practice. Coach Williams considers Jackson this year's MVP because of his major impact on the team's success.
Congratulations to Coach Williams and “The Future”! Their hard work, commitment, and teamwork helped lead them to a 5th championship! Congratulations!
