The Seattle Seahawks picked the right time to play a complete team game. In Sundays battle for the NFC West Division Title the Seahawks were last men standing when the dust settled.
The spoils of a complete 20-9 effort over the Los Angeles Rams was the NFC West Division. It was the first NFC West Division title since 2016 for the Seahawks and fifth under Pete Carroll.
The Seahawks defense was at its very best against the LA Rams. The Seahawks defense held the Rams offense to just three field goals. Two in the first half and the other in the fourth quarter. The Seahawks defense best sequence of the game was a goal stance that stopped the Rams from well you know scoring a touchdown. Head coach Pete Carroll call it one of the best sequence he has ever seen from a defense. With the defense playing lights out as they like to say in the NFL quarterback Russell Wilson and the offense had no choice but to do their part. After a 6-6 tie at halftime the offense scored two second half touchdowns to secure an NFC West Division crown for the Seahawks. You can imagine how elated head coach Pete Carroll was after the game.
This was a great Seahawks day. I’m really proud of what we’ve accomplished, just by getting to this division championship right now. Just through all of the challenges that we’ve faced, and all of the things on the outside that we’re all dealing with and all of that. For this group to continue to hold focus and really find their best, through the process. Really fired up about it, and proud of it. There were times during the season where everybody had enough statistics to go ahead and blow us out and like we weren’t worth anything on defense, but this defense is good, and they’ve shown it, and they’ve declared it. This is the kind of defense that we’ve played in years past when we really had good teams down in the end, in the stretch.”
Up next for the Seahawks is the regular season finale against the San Francisco 49ers and on to the playoffs. As they say anything can happen in the playoffs and the way the Seahawks are playing anything can happen.
