Bridging Across Differences. Learn some ways to foster connections that enable social progress
Human connection is one of the most fulfilling experiences we’ll ever participate in. We were designed to share in the bliss and bruises life presents. The ability to bridge connection across differences is necessary now more than ever.
The rise in gun violence among youth, mental illness, political division, and heart wrenching responses to homelessness should signal a desire for action. Although policy reform is an non-negotiable approach when responding to these matters, individuals possess the power to positively respond. Innovative solutions are fostered when diverse voices contribute their brilliance and knowledge for the betterment of their community.
Here are some ways to bridge across differences:
Host a neighborhood roundtable at your local community center.
Create a community survey to collect feedback to inform social initiatives.
Volunteer for a local organization.
Now, by no means do I believe neoliberal responses to social injustice will resolve systemic issues. However, I hope these suggestions grant hope and empower individuals to participate in solutionary responses.
