Celebrating the life of Bruce Bentley Sr.

October 22, 1954 – December 24, 2023

Bruce Bentley Sr. was born October 22, 1954, to the union of Carl and Winona Bentley in Seattle, Washington. He was called home December 24, 2023. At an early age, Bruce loved to play football for

C.A.Y.A. and later in the Canadian football league. Bruce was a 1973 graduate of Garfield High

School and thereafter enlisted in the US Army, proudly serving 3 years. This experience led to his love and desire to serve his local community, planting unforgettable seeds throughout the City of Seattle. Bruce was a leader, a volunteer, a coach, and a mentor. He is a lifetime member of the Donaldson-Livingston-Bentley Family Reunion Committee, was a prominent member of the community serving on the Seattle Parks Board; Rainier Chamber of Commerce; President of SWAC, the ARC President representing SW Community Center, and numerous other community boards. In 2005, he became a Seafair Commodore where he later became the Seafair Commandant. Bruce worked as Rabanco’s Community and Marketing Director for over 20 years, then retiring in 2009.

Bruce married Linda Rollins in 1977 and 3 beautiful children from this union were born, Bruce Jr., Bridgette and Destiny. In 2017, Bruce married Nyger Harris and she brought 2 daughters Zha’nya and Lasheera. He is proceeded in death by his parents Carl and Winona Bentley, siblings Judy Mills, Carl (Chicky) Bentley, Ronnie Bentley, Michael Bentley, and Gary Bentley. Bruce leaves to cherish his memories his wife Nyger, his children, Bruce Bentley Jr. (Erica), Bridgette Bentley and Destiny Bentley, siblings Karla Jackson (Vern), Lenora Bentley, Donna Woods, Tina Barnes, Tony Bentley(Gail) and Russell Bentley, grandchildren Marquis, Alexis, Bryce, Leila, Cydney, Viviana and Kasen, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends that loved him dearly.

Bruce will be most remembered for his passion for family, and his enthusiasm and willingness to always give back and to serve his community.
