On Monday, April 6th 2020 Eldridge Willis went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88. He will be fondly remembered by his wife, Doretha Willis who lovingly cared for him until his death.
Eldridge and Doretha moved to Seattle in 1957 from New Orleans, LA. Eldridge worked and retired from the Boeing Company after 35 years of employment. He was a loving husband to his wife of almost 70 years and proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Madison Temple Church of God in Christ where he served for many years as a deacon, minister and an ordained elder. He was a graduate of the Bishop A. L. Hardy School of Theology.
He is survived by his wife Doretha, his 5 children: Cheryl Graves, Marcella Smith (Donnie), Lisa Davis (Jerhi), Vanetta Logan (Aubrey) and Eldridge Willis Jr (Beverly); brother Melvin Willis of Oakland, CA, sister Alethea Carriere of New Orleans, LA, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was a great example of a husband, father and grandfather and will be forever missed.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private graveside service was held and he was laid to rest at the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery on Friday, April 17, 2020. A celebration of his life will be planned for a future date.
