Nancy L. Mitchell, 80 passed away January 30, 2023. She was born April 21, 1942, in Springfield, Ohio. She was a 1960 graduate of Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington. Nancy worked as a bank teller for 25 years and her final working eight years were spent in claims processing for then Group Health Cooperative. She retired early so she could accompany the love of her life, Charles H. Mitchell, on travels and numerous work functions for his job duties with the Seattle Community Colleges until his retirement.
Nancy had an infectious personality and genuinely cared about people. She was quick to lend an ear or offer a shoulder to cry on. If you were a friend of one of her friends, then you automatically became her friend. If you were one of her friends, you were family. She was a staple in the Seward Park neighborhood and loved her neighbors. Nancy loved her two children very much but her pride and joy were her grandchildren. Nancy’s grandchildren always held a special place in her heart. She would tell anyone who would listen about how much she adored them. Nancy’s sense of style was second to no other. She prided herself on being the most put together person in the place. She will be greatly missed by the host of people she touched over the years.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 48 years Charles; children, Julie (Darrin) and Rashad (Kris); grandchildren, Tracey, Michelle, Madden, Christian and Zoe; sister, Mary Janet Bryant of Illinois many nieces and nephews, other relatives and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Garnetta Greene; sisters, Barbara Dorsey and Betty Robinson, brothers Richard Greene and Robert Greene. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be scheduled on a date to be determined. Online condolences may be made to the family at https://www.columbiafuneralhome.com.
