In Loving Memory of Charles Larry Newson


Larry was born May 13, 1945 in Merced, California. He was the 2nd oldest of 7 children. Larry passed away at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington on 04/24/2023, he was 77 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles E Newson & Rosenthal Amey & his sister Vera Gooden. He is survived by his son LaRon Newson, Oakland, CA, and 3 grandchildren, Ajia Newson, JaRon Newson, Zion Newson and step-daughter Diamettia Thibodeaux, his brother Manuel Adams, Fresno, CA, and 4 sisters, Lavada Banks, Milton, WA, Wanda Patterson, Puyallup, WA, Ethel DeSuze Federal Way, WA, and Leatrice Adams, Seattle, WA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was born and raised in Merced, CA. Larry attended Merced High school in Merced, CA. He spent his early years in Merced and later in 1980 he moved to Seattle where he lived until his death. Larry worked for Amtrak for several years & moved on to work as a cook at multiple restaurants in Merced. After moving to Seattle he worked for several restaurants & then he went to Dennys and worked his way up to head chef for Dennys in Ballard and retired after working 18 years. Larry loved life, especially family. He loved playing dominoes, and cards. he loved to sing & dance and always had a lot of funny jokes he told. Larry was lead singer with the local Blue Notes Band where they played in local area Bars/Joints in Merced, Madera & Fresno for several years. Viewing of the body will be Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 between 3:00 PM-4:00 PM at Bonney Watson Funeral Home, 16445 International Blvd, Sea-Tac, WA
