Delores Ann Evans, was born in Seattle, WA, July 13, 1946, and completed her journey on March 15, 2026.

She lived with her niece Delicia Pitts in Chesapeake, VA., who supported her as she crossed into the eternal.

Delores was raised in faith at First A. M. E.  She was a student at Madrona, Meany, and graduated from Garfield High School, all in Seattle.  She briefly worked for Seattle Public Schools before moving to Pasadena, CA, where she worked for Lockheed Martin.  It was there that her passion became clear: to see that children are healthy and have the opportunity to fulfill their greatest potential at their beginning, despite the obstacles, which she pursued in pre-school education.  When she returned to Seattle in 1989/90, she pursued and completed a Masters in Early Childhood Education.  In her return to Seattle Public Schools, she worked in a variety of positions but was most fulfilled in the role of Family Support Worker, which kept her in alignment with her passion.  Delores had a lasting impact on her colleagues, families, and the children she supported.

Her faith and trust in God were steadfast as she continually lifted-up those who were on her prayer list – she added new names all the time.  Though she lived in Virginia, she maintained her membership at Bailey A. M. E., in Everett, WA.

She joins her parents Melvin and Azzie Evans, and siblings Beverly, Virginia, Melvin, and Debra.  She is survived by her elder sisters, Charlene Thomas, Julia Powell, Eugenia Walls, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Delores was uncomplicated, direct, and generous with her family and friends.  Though she is no longer with us physically, when you have a moment, talk to her, reach out to her, lift her up, even in silence.  She would love to hear from you as she continues to surround us with her spirit and love.

Her words at the end of a conversation, “I love you today!”

Because tomorrow is not promised.
