Dorothy M. Woods
October 2, 1933 - April 7, 2020
Dorothy M. Woods, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep in her residence at the age of 86 of natural causes. Born in Louisiana, moved to Seattle in 1947, raised with two sisters and three brothers. She attended Seattle Public school where she met the love of her life Robert L. Stephens (who proceeded her in death July 2019) in 1949 and married June 1951. Bobby and Dorothy (Angel) raised seven daughters in the Mount Baker area. Dorothy worked at Welch Hardware and retired from Boeing in 1995.
Faith played an important role in Dorothy's life. Since 1951, she was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish & Immaculate.
Dorothy believed "actions speak louder than words" and never shied away from volunteer opportunities including Mt. Baker Senior Center and all activities at Immaculate to name a few. Dorothy (Aka Dot) was the type of person who could make friends where ever she went, everybody was either a friend or a potential friend, she will be remembered for her infectious smile and laugh.
She is survived by her seven daughters, Joanna Ellison (Richard), Annette Livingston (Raymond) Loretta-Terry (Brian), Dorothy Ann Obama (Barack) Janet Smith (Joe) and Martha Jamerson; one sister, three brothers , 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Dorothy is proceeded in death by her daughter Diane White; Robert L. Stephens; Anthony Woods; sister Bertha Washington and grandson Mario Smith.
We celebrate and acknowledge a GREAT women of God. Its been one year since her passing yet gone never forgotten.
