In Loving Memory of Edgar Pitre Sr.



EDGAR PITRE Sr.

1931-2023


Edgar Pitre, Sr. was born August 12, 1931, in Mallet, Louisiana to Gilbert and Eugenie Pitre. He was the

youngest of 7 children. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After the war, he joined the Great


Migration and followed his older brothers to Seattle where he worked at Boeing for over 40 years. In

1955 he met Ella Mae Kirby. They were married for 62 years until Ella’s death in 2018. They had 4 sons,


Edgar Jr., Tillman (deceased), Lawrence, and Keith. Edgar Pitre is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 2

great-grandchildren.


Edgar was a faithful Catholic with a strong devotion to the Holy Mother. For most of his life in Seattle, he

was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Peter

Claver.


Edgar was also well known for cooking Creole food and hosting an annual Seafair party at his home. His

other pastimes included camping, hunting, and fishing. He took his sons on many trips to enjoy the

great outdoors.


Edgar leaves behind his sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends who will

greatly miss his quiet presence and valuable words.


A funeral service will be held this Friday, March 10th

, at Immaculate Conception Church, 820 18th Ave

Seattle WA. Rosery Prayer, 10:00 a.m. Funeral, 11 a.m.
