Mr. Herman Capers was born on May 2, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Morris Ca-pers, Jr. and Pinkie Carter Capers. He was the fourth of nine children born to their union.
In his youth, Herman developed a love of sports—particularly baseball—and dreamed of one day playing professionally. Although that dream led him down other paths, his passion for athletics never faded. He later dedicated many years to coaching youth football, baseball, and soccer, sharing his love for teamwork, discipline, and community with countless young people.
Herman was married to Allie R. Clark 1960 - 1980. In 1963, the young family moved to Seat-tle, Washington. Herman was employed by The Boeing Company, where he worked diligently for 38 years until his retirement—a testament to his strong work ethic.
Herman’s memory will be cherished by many. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved sis-ter, Mrs. Rosetta Head; his children, Cheryl D. Capers-Edwards, Herman W. Capers, Cathy B. Capers, Stephanie Oliver and Lewis C. Capers, Sr. (Christine); and his grandchildren, Derrick Frazier, Serena McCray, Troya Capers, Ahna Capers, Lewis C. Capers, Jr., Karress Guidry-Capers, Faith Capers, Lakeisha Smith, Stafford King, Tempa King and Marvin Smith Stewart. In addition to his devoted family, Herman will be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Herman Capers’ legacy lies not only in his dedication to his family and work but in the kind-ness, humility, and generosity he extended to others throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
