In Loving Memory of Inez Walden

Inez Walden died peacefully in her sleep on November 12th, 2020 in her home of

46 years. Inez was born in Brule, LA on September 17, 1926. Her parents were Victor and Emma Landry.

Inez was the youngest of 6 children. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters; Inez was the last living child of

their parents. After graduating high school, she attended Southern University in Louisiana for a short

time. Soon after, in 1945 at the age of 19 she married Obie Tate and moved to Washington. Inez and Obie

were married for 22 years and had 7 children together. Inez worked and retired from BOEING after 33

years, she worked as a riveter for the aircrafts. Inez always shared that her favorite plane was the 747.

After Obie and Inez divorced, Inez met Anthel “Tony” Walden. Inez and Tony got married in November

of 1972 and soon after bought and built a home in Kirkland, Washington. Their home in Kirkland quickly

became the traditional family home for their family. They hosted countless family gatherings and holiday

parties.

Inez and Anthel took road trips in their camper and more fishing trips all over country than she could

count. They lived happily married for over 40 years before Tony passed.

Inez was affectionately known as "Nana" by anyone she was introduced to. She had many

accomplishments, but her family was her greatest. She left a beautiful legacy behind for them all to

protect. If we learned nothing else from Nana, “hang in there”. Things may not always be what we want

or even what we intend but hang in there. It may be hard, and it may hurt but hang in there. Hold on just a

little bit longer and it will be alright after a while. Fight for what you believe in and hold on to those you

love and care about. She was always “hanging in here” and because of that she got to live an exceptional

life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Anthel Walden, son Ronald Tate, grandson Alfie Mitchell, all

three of her brothers Emmett, Gordon and Warren Landry, and her sisters Coreen Landry and Lela Ware.

She is survived by her 6 children: Lynette Jackson Tate, Diane Mathews, Eddie Tate, Karen Tate, Donald

Tate Sr., and Obie Tate III (Helene Tate). Nana also has 14 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren, 7

Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews across the country.

We will love you always and forever Nana! You will never be forgotten
