In Loving Memory of James (Jimmy) Franklin Jr.

James Lee Franklin Jr. was born April 6, 1955 to James Lee Franklin Sr. and Deanna Bascomb Franklin, in Seattle, WA. He attended Bailey Gatzert Elementary School, in Seattle and later graduated from Washburn High School, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

From a young age Jimmy was inspired by the world around him. He was an avid music lover, in fact while living in Minneapolis he played music and basketball with the artist formerly known as Prince. Jimmy excelled in sports and became a coach in track and tennis to many youth. He worked several jobs most notably for Metro Transit as a bus driver for over 21 years, where he met and made many acquaintances along his various routes. He had a great sense of humor and kept us all laughing with his jokes and impersonations!

Jimmy loved the Lord and was a faithful and active member of Paradise Baptist Church, Seattle, WA. As life quieted, Jimmy transitioned from this life on Monday, August 1, 2022. Left to cherish his memory, his mother: Deanna Bascomb Franklin; his children; Martez Franklin; Cassaundra Franklin; Lakena McQueen Franklin; and Mia Roberson, his “Significant Other” Vanessa Roberson; his siblings: Antonio, Manny, Alonzo, Keefe, and Bennie Franklin; his grandchildren; the Bascomb Family of Seattle. And a host of extended family and friends. A future Memorial Service according to Covid restrictions is planned.
