With sorrow, we announce the passing of Jeri Rose White, a sister, mother, aunt, and friend who departed this life on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Jeri was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 1, 1955. Her proud parents were Johnnie Douglas and Leola Roseline Belson White. Of the four “darling daughters” born to this union, she was the baby.

Jeri was born into membership at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church here in Seattle as a member of one of the pioneering families of New Hope. Later, as a child, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior under the guidance and leadership of the late Reverend Dr. C.E. Williams. Jeri rededicated herself and was baptized by Reverend Dr. Robert L. Jeffrey, Sr.

She attended Madrona Elementary, Meany Junior High, and graduated from Franklin High School. She furthered her education by attending the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Social Welfare.  Later, Jeri continued her education and received her Master’s degree in Social Work and licensing through the University of Washington.

Jeri enjoyed a forty-year career within the social service field. Her final employment was as the Executive Director at Southeast Youth and Family Services; she retired in December 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Johnell D. White, Jackeen D. White, grandson, Meshion Woodruff; aunt, Pearl Prevo; goddaughter, Vonetta Mangaoang-Brodine and other beloved family members too numerous to name.

Jeri leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Janet D. White; daughter, Carol Pinkerton; grandson, Ronald Phillips and children; niece, Seneeka Colly and her son; nephew, Bejrome Hicks and his children; nephew, Quentell Hicks and his children; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026. AKA Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony at 10:00 AM, Memorial at 11:00 AM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 124 – 21st Avenue, Seattle, WA 98122. Services will be live-streamed via https://www.youtube.com/@NewHopeSeattle. Condolences, prayers, and tributes for the family may be posted at the guestbook at Serenity Seattle.com, https://www.serenityseattle.com/obituary/Jeri-White#tributewall.

Jeri was a Life member who reached Golden status in 2024 (50 years) as a member of her beloved sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.  All Greek letter organizations that are a part of the Divine Nine are invited to wear their colors to honor one of their own.

Finding the right words to define a character is like catching moonlight in a jar, and sometimes a simple Name Generator is the spark that lights the way.
