In Loving Memory of Maurice Jones

Maurice Jones was born to the union of Clarence and Addie Jones in Seattle, , WA. on August 29th, 1948. He. passed of a heart attack, while vacationing in Las Vegas.

Known fondly to his friends and loved ones as "Reese" spent his joyful and sometimes mischievous life growing up at Seattle's famous landmark, "Yesler Terrace". His athletic skills in basketball were developed early at the "Terrace" gym under the watchful eyes of the staff. In high school, Maurice was a star basketball player at West Seattle High Shool, where some say he could have gone on to NBA stardom.

In 1973, Maurice decided on accepting a job as a staff member of the newly opened Family House Program as a drug treatment counselor. He made lifelong friends and helped many young people find a better life without drugs. In 1974 he met Jewel who became his lifelong best friend and wife. Jewel and Maurice married on July 17, 1976 in Anchorage and looked forward to celebrating 46 years together this year. Maurice had a number of interesting jobs ranging from dounut maker (which lasted one week), to working for the state of Alaska Employment Service in a program that was designed to help minorities find jobs in oil service technology before moving completely into a new area at IBM Administration. His last working years were in the oil industry on the North Slope of Alaska as a Roustabout.

Maurice was a man who maintained faith and belief in the Lord. He never started a meal before thanking God for the gifts we were about to receive and ending the day acknowledging that God is Good! He loved music of every genre, but Jazz was his "go to " any time any place. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Jewel, daughter Carmen, son Anthony, daughter Christina, (Jean), brother Ronald, sister Teresa (Larry), sister Hillis (Melvin), nephew Jason (Camy), niece Rhonda, niece Allisha, nephew Cameron, God son Landre, and cousin Gerald.
