MINNIE B. CAMPBELL
MARCH 6, 1924 – FEBRUARY 26, 2021
Minnie was born in East Carondelet, Illinois. She was raised in Rock Island, Illinois by her grandparents. Minnie received her education in the public school system, graduating from Rock Island High School. Minnie caught the eye of Thomas Campbell, a young prize fighter, and after courtship, they were married on September 8, 1942. Three children were born to this union.
In 1948, Tommy’s employment led them to Los Angeles, California and later to Tucson, Arizona. In 1954, they moved to Seattle. Minnie and Tommy enjoyed 27 years of marriage before his untimely death in 1969.
Over the years, Minnie was employed by Harborview Hospital, Horace Mann Elementary School, Washington Middle School, Garfield High School and Hamilton Middle School. She retired from the Seattle School District in 1988. After retirement, Minnie volunteered at the Central Area Senior Center serving as the instructor for “The Sliders” Line Dancing group. Minnie was a 59 year resident in her home located in Seattle’s Central Area.
In 2013, due to health challenges, Minnie moved to San Diego, California to live with her daughter, where she resided until her death.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Lauren Robson (Mark), San Diego, CA; son, Darwin Campbell (Perla) and daughter, Marla Brown, Seattle, WA; Stepsons, Cleveland Campbell, Fort Smith, AK; Melvin Campbell (Rosa), Mazatlan, MX; six grandchildren; Five great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Our memories will always be filled with joy and her presence will be unspeakably missed.
