Phyllis B. Thornton, 72, of Seattle, WA, died in Tacoma, WA on January 24, 2025.

She was born in Seattle, Washington in 1952 to parents April Odell Trigg-Thornton and Edward Sylvester Thornton.

Phyllis graduated from Chief Sealth High School. One of her earliest jobs after high-school was at the first ever, original Starbucks in Pike Place Market.

A voracious reader in childhood, this passion propelled her forward into her adult occupation as a librarian, surrounded by books she loved her work! Phyllis loved children and spent many years as a childcare teacher and was an awesome babysitter for family and friends.

Phyllis met and married her husband Jeremy Marshall on April 28, 1990. Jeremy was also an avid lover of books! Together they opened several book stores sharing their passion with their communities.

Later in life Phyllis owned and operated her own antiques/vintage business. She had an Etsy shop selling her wares, that was named 3 Sisters Go Shopping in honor of her mother, Odell Thornton and her two aunts, Mary Stallworth and Anna Culbreath who were all sassy with fashion, shopping, sewing and coordinating accessories; they taught Phyllis everything they knew and she became an expert seamstress, as well.

Phyllis traveled all over Washington selling her unique finds at a variety of flea markets and festivals.  She  was in the midst of opening up a brand new antique & thrift store with her dear friend Elizabeth Archambeault right before her passing.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Jeremy Marshall, as well as both of her parents. She is survived by her brother Kevin Thornton, nephew Miles Thornton, niece Natasha “Nat” Thornton, and cousins Leathia, Chalice,  Myra and Todd Stallworth.
