On May 21st, 2021 Bishop Edward Tompson departed this world and was called home. “To be absent from the body means presence with the lord.” Bishop Tompson was born in Utica, Mississippi and raised in Seattle. A graduate of Garfield high school, he served in the Airforce excelling as a boxer being crowned World Inter-Service Champion. After the service, Bishop Tompson realized a life long passion for workers rights and equity serving as one of the first African American Secretary Treasurers of SEIU Local 6. After over a decade working as Treasurer, an Entrepreneur, and providing service to those in need through The Union Gospel Mission, was able to focus on his truest passion; delivering the word of the lord through his gospel. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and those who'se lives his deeds and spirit have inspired.
Graveside service celebrating his life and legacy will be held at
Abbey View Cemetery; 2:00 June 2, 2021.
