Passed away peacefully in Seattle, Washington.
Was preceded in death by husband, Louis L. Wilcox and son, Barry J. Wilcox
A New Orleans native, she came to Seattle in 1948 with her family and equipped with a Catholic religious foundation, public school teaching credentials, and a strong commitment to the good of the greater community, spent her life in service. Over the years she guided the incorporation of Neighborhood House, served on the Seattle Urban League Board of Directors, was founding President of Central Area Mental Health, worked 20 years as a kindergarten teacher in Seattle Public Schools, and engaged in countless other projects and activities. A strong caring mother who was creative and resourceful, she was also an active bridge player who enjoyed the company of her girlfriends in the Les Dames Bridge Club. She is survived by daughter Adrienne, sons Carver (Beverly), Denis, Eric (Sharon), treasured grand and great grandchildren, and sister Marie Damnavits. Memorial gathering will be held at 11am on Saturday December 17th at St. Mary’s Church, 611 20th Ave South in Seattle. The family suggests remembrances to the St. Vincent De Paul Society and St. Mary’s Food Bank.
