TERRILYN L. COLEMAN
(née Kelly), 66, of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, at
home a after a courageous battle with kidney failure.
Terri was born on February 17, 1959, in Syracuse, New York, to the late Martha J. (Owens) Kelly and John R. Kelly, Sr. In the late 1960s, she moved to Seattle with her family, where she was raised alongside her sister, the late LaSandra J. Kelly, and her brothers,
John R. Kelly, Jr. and Frederick L. Kelly.
Terri dedicated a significant portion of her professional life to public service as a case manager with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), where she worked for 28 years. She carried herself with dignity, determination, and tireless work
ethic.
She had a joy for consignment and fashion, always finding ways to express her individuality with style. Terri found joy in music, especially the smooth sounds of classic R&B and soul. From Anita Baker and Toni Braxton to Earth, Wind & Fire, Babyface,
and Bill Withers. Her playlists were filled with rhythm and timeless melodies that matched her spirit. Terri was known for her bundle of strong energy, her playfulness, and her tremendous sense of humor.
She was also someone who always knew what she wanted. At the same time, she carried a steady vision for her daughters, Tamika L. Kelly and Jaulane M. Coleman. Terri believed in surrounding her girls with the love of relatives and relationships who took a
strong hand in raising them alongside her. At the same time, the love and guidance were extended to her grandson, Wendell O. Adams III, and to her circle of nieces and nephews.
Terri is survived by her daughters, Tamika and Jaulane, her grandson Wendell, and her brothers, John and Frederick. She is preceded in death by her parents, Martha and John, and her sister, LaSandra.
She will be remembered for her resilience, her unwavering clarity, her booming laughter, and the way she upli ed those around her with love, strength, and vision.
