Varia Jean Davenport, born September 21, 1930 - June 9th, 2021 to Luther and Irene Tharpe in Bastrop, Louisiana. Beloved wife of Rev, William E. Davenport who preceded her in death. They had two sons, Charles and David, who both preceded her in death. She has left behind one sister, Mary E. Tharpe, two brothers, Glen Tharpe (Ann), Russell Tharpe. She remained a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church even after the passing of their husband under the leadership of Rev. Ezell Ray. Being in church was home to her, that was her passion. She loved being active and involved in all roles that she could. She leaves behind grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, her church family and friends. Mrs. Varia Jean Davenport was a force to be reckoned with. She ruled her world and her family with the grace and firm hand of reigning royalty, and only when her husband and both sons were safely in her Lord's hands did she feel she could let her grip on this world go, having cared for her family her entire life. Of all her relations, the best and purest and strongest blood came through her. No one else held a candle to her. As dementia took hold she still maintained her dignity and personal strength under circumstances which would have broken any other human being.
