Velmer Lee Jenkins was born to Georgia King on June 24, 1952, in Commerce, TX. He was the second oldest of 4 brothers who were raised in a God-fearing home where they were always taught to love each other and work together. Velmer graduated from Commerce High School in 1977, later attending Southwestern Christian College where he received an associate degree.

In the Summer of 1978 Velmer moved to Seattle, WA where he was famously known as ''Bowtie'', he made quite the name for himself in Seattle's Central District as a professional landscaper & ''jack of all trades''. His popularity in Seattle grew as arguably the best landscaper the community had ever seen. Bowtie spent over 30 years serving the Seattle area with a big friendly smile and if you knew him, you knew of his ''big green pickup truck''. He was always thinking of people, always leading with a big wave and friendly conversations making him a staple in a lot of communities.

Velmer worked in the landscaping industry all his life. Before branching out on his own, he worked for yours truly the King dome (home of the Seattle Mariners), King County Housing Resources Group and King Way Apartments, just to name a few.
