INVITATION: The Rev. Dr. Reginald W. Williams, Jr., pastor of the First Baptist Church of University Park in Illinois, will be
visiting the Emerald City to bring the preached Word to Mount Zion Baptist Church members and the greater King County community. As a senior pastor, lecturer, and faith leader committed to the concepts of social justice, Dr. Williams is known in religious circles for his dedication to a culturally relevant theology that embraces all God’s children. And he has been widely recognized for those efforts with numerous awards, honors, and commendations.
Dr. Williams, pastor of First Baptist University Park since 2008, has truly earned the acclaim and recognition. He is the author of, Moving the Masses: Pillars of Prophetic Preaching and co-authored, To Serve This Present Age: Social Justice Ministries in the Black Church. Dr. Williams currently serves as an adjunct professor at McCormick Theological Seminary and Chicago Theological Seminary in the areas of Social Justice Ministry in the Local Church and Prophetic Preaching. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School and the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, where he earned his Master of Divinity (2002) and Doctorate of Ministry (2017). He received his undergrad degree from Florida A & M University.
Dr. Williams was last in Seattle to speak at McCaw Hall when he eulogized Mount Zion’s pastor emeritus, the late Rev. Dr. Samuel B. McKinney, in May 2018. He also preached at Mount Zion in 2017 for Dr. McKinney’s 90th birthday celebration. And now he has returned. Dr. Williams is a gifted and prophetic minister whose words will encourage, uplift, and inspire those who hear.
