Sunset: March 11, 2026

Richard Lee Haynes D.C. quietly departed on March 11, 2026.  For over 45 plus years Dr. Haynes served five plus generations of people from all walks of life in the Seattle metropolitan area as the owner of Seattle Back Clinic, a practice that was originally established by the late Dr. Curti in 1921. Located on Madison St., since 1998, the Seattle Back Clinic served as a foundation for Central District community health and prosperity, as well as a launch pad for other business ventures throughout the years.

Dr. Haynes was a man who lived a life defined by freedom in thought, word, and action, making sure to always be of service to those in need. As a natural mentor, orator and philosopher, Dr. Haynes possessed the unique ability to turn complex truths into accessible lessons, all with the goal of sharing and empowering others through his knowledge.

Whether meeting him for the first time as a patient or future friend, people often left that first interaction with a sense of connection and understanding. As anyone who had known him would attest, there was a familiarity and warmth in his presence that left you feeling as like you had known him a lifetime.

Dr. Haynes is survived by his son, Ross; his wife, Antoinette Haynes, and their children, Simon and Amelia; his daughter, Rekha Haynes; and his sister, Macy. Beyond his immediate relatives, Dr. Haynes leaves behind a vast network of extended family and a lifetime of friends whom he gathered, nurtured, and cherished as his own. To those of us fortunate enough to have called him a friend, a mentor, or "Dad," we carry with us the knowledge of what he meant to us—and exactly what we meant to him.

Just as free in life as Dr. Haynes was, he was going to be free in death. In his words, “All I want to have is freedom. Let me spell that for you, F-R-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-D-U-M-B!! Just be DUMB enough to be FREE.” For those who knew him, he would want you to celebrate his life, knowing full well that he lived his life to the fullest, only saw green lights, and was constantly moving forward. If Dr. Haynes’ light ignited yours, may you let your light shine brightly in remembrance of him.
