Over 500 Eligible Residents Already Secured Saturday Vaccination Appointments at the Lumen Field Event Center Through Notification List

SEATTLE (March 11, 2021) – Following her announcement that the Lumen Field Event Center will open for its first day of operations this Saturday, March 13, Mayor Jenny A. Durkan urged all Phase 1A and Phase 1B, Tier 1 eligible members of the public to sign up for the City’s vaccination notification list. Once eligible members of the public sign up for the City’s notification list, they will receive an email notification when vaccination appointments become available at any of the City’s there fixed sites in Rainier Beach, West Seattle, and the Lumen Field Event Center. The notification list is available here, and residents can also contact the Customer Service Bureau at 206-684-2489 from Monday through Saturday, between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. for assistance completing this form. In-language assistance is available over the phone.

In particular, the Mayor urges members of the public who are 65 or older and have not yet been vaccinated to sign up for the notification list. According to data from Public Health – Seattle & King County, a significant percentage of older adults in the Seattle area have not yet received their first dose of the vaccine.

West Seattle, South Seattle, Delridge, Highline: 31.3% of people 65 or older have not yet received their first dose.
Central Seattle: 34.2% of people 65 or older have not yet received their first dose.
North Seattle and Shoreline: 21.9% of people 65 or older have not yet received their first dose.

“This pandemic is a once-in-a-generation challenge. It’s not something that any individual or organization can face alone. It will take all of us – from health care providers, to philanthropy, to community-based organizations, and all levels of government – using all the tools at our disposal to equitably vaccinate our communities,” said Mayor Durkan. “We all have a role to play in defeating this pandemic. Please, get vaccinated as soon as you’re eligible. If you’re not yet eligible, you can help someone in your community get an appointment through our notification list. I know everyone is fatigued, and we all want to pandemic to be over. But hope is on the horizon, and now is not the time to let up on our efforts.”

In just over 24 hours, nearly 1,500 eligible people have signed up for the City’s notification list. Residents who are 65 or older make up the largest percentage of people currently on the City’s notification list. From the notification list, over 500 people have already registered for a vaccination appointment at the Lumen Field Event Center for this Saturday, March 13, in addition to the over 600 people who were registered through partnerships with community-based and faith-based organizations serving Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities, older adults, and immigrants and refugees.

Yesterday, Mayor Durkan announced that the new Community Vaccination Site at the Lumen Field Event Center will open this Saturday, March 13, 2021. The site is a collaboration between the City of Seattle, First & Goal Inc., and Swedish. The site will initially vaccinate around 5,000 people each week, but could vaccinate 150,000 people each week – or 22,000 per day – at full capacity, if supply is available.
