In Loving Memory of Gean Arthur White



Gean Arthur White was born January 23rd, 1936 . She was the second child born to Tuckora Peters and Willie White in Poplar Bluff Missouri. She peacefully transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on August 18, 2022. Gean married her sweetheart Roy on November 19, 1955, a total of 7 children were born from this union. The two moved to Tacoma, WA in 1957, moved back to Arkansas, then Chicago for a short time. The two felt lead to move back to Tacoma in 1958 and began growing a great big loving family.

In 1966 Pastor and First Lady Fletcher accepted the call to serve at Sheridan Street C.C.O.G. She faithfully stood by her husband and served her church with joy and gladness. Gean was a true servant of the lord. During her 56 years of ministry, she served on the Usher board, Choir, and the Women’s Ministry. Sis. Fletcher enjoyed traveling with the Usher Board to Conventions and she was fun to be around. She was able to travel to several states such as Detroit, Atlanta, Mississippi, California, and the Carolina’s to name a few.

Gean worked for Tacoma General Hospital and retired after 30 years of service. After retirement Gean enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandkids quickly became the light of her world. She also enjoyed shopping which usually meant she was blessing others. Gean enjoyed cooking for her family, friends, and church members. Some the families’ fondest memories are centered around the kitchen table.

Gean was preceded in death by her parents Willie White and Tuckora Peters, Sisters Virginia Whitfield, Violet White and Shirley Watson. Those left here to cherish her memory: Husband Roy L. Fletcher Sr, Children, Sharon (Fred) Williams, Michael Fletcher, Derek (Angie) Fletcher, Carolyn (Darrell) Upshur, Bernice Carter, Roy (Clarissa) Fletcher and Curtis (Tameka) all of Tacoma, Washington. Brothers; Bobby White, Charles (Verneva) White, Willie White, Gloria (Raliegh) Biddle, Diane Perkins. Twenty-two grandchildren, 30 great grandchild and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her Sister-in-law and friend Billie Crittendon and Brother-in-law Jacque Patterson and Goddaughter Terri (Pooh) Miller.
