Seafair Weekend & Seafair Community Events




SATURDAY, JULY 29, 2023 3:00PM PARADE START There’s nothing like the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade, and no better way to spend a summer day enjoying a Free activity suited for the family. The Torchlight Parade is where Seafair celebrates the cultural diversity and traditions of the Pacific Northwest with over 100 entries. From dragon dancers to precision drill teams or marching bands to prancing horses, the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade will keep you entertained from start to finish. New this year, the parade will be kicking off at 3:00pm. With over 100 parade units, including your favorite sports teams, military bands, and the legendary Seafair Pirates. The Torchlight parade is a true spectacle showcasing diverse cultures throughout the Pacific Northwest. Starting at 1:00pm, come down early to the Westlake Center to immerse yourself in a festival atmosphere bursting with live entertainment, food trucks, and more This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. An iconic Pacific Northwest tradition, Seafair Weekend Festival is the culmination of the summer-long Seafair Celebration. Known and loved as an unofficial Puget Sound holiday, this is the most anticipated event of the summer! Set on Lake Washington’s 1.5 miles of shoreline, Seafair Festival Weekend is the largest boating event, air show, and festival all rolled into one. Fans enjoy the Boeing Seafair Air Show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, Miss HomeStreet racing at over 220 MPH in the HomeStreet Bank Cup, and the unforgettable sights, sounds, and smells of Alaska Airlines Park. If you can't make it to the lake, make sure to tune in to KONG TV with live coverage of the races and air show. Or, tune in to 88.9 FM The Bridge for Log Boom Radio, Mercer Island High School’s radio station, which will be broadcasting the excitement all weekend long. TRANSPORTATION Fans are invited to get to the park using public transportation, including Metro and Link Light Rail, as well as ride-share and bicycle options. Guests arriving via Link Light Rail can get off at the Columbia Center Station and take advantage of our free round-trip shuttle service from the station to the park Friday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Members of the military and their families will receive free rides on Metro Transit by simply showing their military ID. From the awe-inspiring U.S. Navy Blue Angels to the world-renowned U.S. Army Golden Knights, the airshow is a showcase of some of the most elite aviation teams on the planet. The Boeing Seafair Air Show also features incredible displays by civilian pilots, vintage aircraft, and parachute demonstrations that will leave you breathless. And with the I-90 bridge remaining open during performances, you can rest assured that getting to and from the event will be a breeze. AUGUST 4-6, 2023 Winning the HomeStreet Bank Cup is the goal of every team competing in the world’s fastest racing boats, and there is no better place or time to host that competition than the iconic Seafair Festival Weekend. Whether you are spectating near the shores of Lake Washington or from the Seafair Log Boom, you are in for a special treat. The excitement of hydroplanes racing at over 220 MPH is unbelievable. Not to mention you might get a little wet if you get too close! The HomeStreet Bank Cup is an integral part of the Seafair Weekend Festival that was started in 1950. Lake Washington is the third oldest H1 Unlimited race site. This year, we are celebrating 70 years of hydroplane racing at Seafair with multiple classes of boats.


AUGUST 1-6, 2023 Seattle Fleet Week - A time to honor, celebrate, and connect. Join us and be a part of this remarkable experience. The spectacle known as the Seattle Fleet Week returns to Seafair once again. The celebration starts with the Parade of Ships through Elliot Bay, followed by a week of events where the public is invited to meet the sailors and guardsmen, enjoy free music, and take ship tours. Seafair has hosted Fleet Week on the Seattle Waterfront since 1950 in celebration of the men and women who serve our country. This year Seafair, along with Boeing, the Seattle Navy League, and the Port of Seattle, is proud to welcome the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Navy. Experience the power and majesty of naval vessels up close. Tour the impressive ships, meet the dedicated sailors, and gain insight into their vital missions. Free ship tours will be available August 2-6 on Pier 46, 66 and 69. Tour times will be on this webpage in July. The Seafair Indian Days Powwow is a three day festival of Native American and Indigenous Culture it features traditional Native American, Alaska Native, and First Nations drummers, dancers in traditional regalia, Native Food Vendors, and Arts & Crafts. It is open to the public and shares Native cultures with all of Seattle. Over 15,000 attend the three day event. The Seattle Indian Days Powwow is held annually by United Indians of All Tribes Foundation. It is traditionally held the third weekend in July, in conjunction with Seattle Seafair.

The West Seattle Grand Parade, occurring since 1935, is hosted by the West Seattle Rotary Service Foundation and is one of the oldest and most beloved community events in the Seattle area. The West Seattle Grand Parade celebrates the diverse community and participants of the greater Seattle area. It is a proud member of the Seafair community of events which includes the pirates, clowns, marching bands, drill teams, floats, pageantry, and excitement that leads up to the Seafair Torchlight Parade the following weekend.

The Seattle Chinatown Seafair Parade is famous for its rich ethnic flavors, the 100-foot dragon, and the Chinese Community Girls Drill Team in traditional Chinese opera costume. Added in recent years are many other Asian performance groups participating along with the traditional floats and drill teams, provide two hours of fun and entertainment for the thousands of spectators who line up along the streets hours before the start.

Umoja Fest is a cultural extravaganza that uniquely touches the spirit of the Community and has historically been the most unifying celebration of Summer in Seattle's Central District. Seattle Outboard Association will host the Frank Hansen Memorial Regatta at Angle Lake. The American Power Boat Association sanctions the event and will feature various outboard hydroplane and runabout classes. Categories that will be racing are Stock, Modified, Pro along with the Junior Hydros that are featured at Seafair on Lake Washington.
