Seattle Garbage, Recycling and Yard/Food Waste Pickup Canceled Due to Winter Weather


SEATTLE (December 23, 2022)- Following multiple days of snow and ice this week, there will be no residential collection on Friday or Saturday due to unsafe road conditions. Thursday and Friday customers can pull their carts in and set out double at no extra charge next week.

If a customer’s normal collection day this week was:

Tuesday – Customers can set out extra next Tuesday at no additional charge. We will attempt to pick up recycling in the off week.

Wednesday – Customers can set out extra next Wednesday at no additional charge. We will attempt to pick up recycling in the off week.

Thursday – Customers can pull in their containers for today. They can set out extra next Thursday at no additional charge. We will attempt to pick up recycling in the off week.

Friday – Customers can pull in their containers for today. They can set out extra next Friday at no additional charge. We will attempt to pick up recycling in the off week.

Both the North and South transfer stations and the Hazardous Waste Facility are closed to customers today and will reopen tomorrow, December 24.

In the event of snow and/or ice, City emergency planners urge residents to prepare their homes for cold weather, to build emergency supply kits for homes and vehicles, and to not drive unnecessarily.
