Seattle Parks and Recreation and YMCA of Greater Seattle Announce Summer Job Fairs

Both organizations are hiring dozens of positions to provide a safe summer for kids

Seattle, WA- Step up and help kids this summer - do work that matters! Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) and YMCA of Greater Seattle (YMCA) have an alarming number of summer positions to fill in roles that serve youth in the Seattle area, especially around water-related activities and day camps that provide childcare for parents this summer.

“Seattle Parks and Recreation is a great place to work! Our summer programs make meaningful impact in our communities and in the lives of young people. It is critical that we fill our open positions so that we do not have to close programs and activities that community rely on. I encourage everyone interested in a summer job to attend one of our job fairs and to apply today,” said Christopher Williams, Acting Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent.

Both organizations have over 100 positions to fill to run day camps and staff pools, beaches, and wading pools. SPR and YMCA will be holding joint hiring fairs where candidates can learn more about available positions, ask questions of staff, and apply on the spot.

“Working at the Y is a life changing experience and more than an ordinarily job,” said Sara Biancofiori, YMCA AVP/District Exec overseeing aquatics. “Spend your summer helping kids learn to swim, supporting families with outdoor learning, and more, while you build your leadership, help community and have your best summer ever!”

SPR and YMCA offer great starting pay and benefits, and have permanent, temporary, seasonal, full-time as well as part-time opportunities available, including positions for people as young as age 16. These positions are great for entry-level young adults and anyone looking to get into education, social services, or emergency responder fields, all while caring for kids and families in their communities.

Joint SPR and YMCA Job Fairs:

  • Wednesday, June 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Meredith Matthews YMCA (1700 23rd, Seattle, WA)

  • Thursday, June 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Magnuson Park, Building 406 (6344 NE 74th, Seattle, WA).

  • Saturday, June 4 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rainier Beach Community Center (8825 Rainier Ave. S, Seattle, WA)

If you or someone you know loves working with people and is looking for a fun and meaningful job this summer, please apply today and share these opportunities with your networks. Many critical programs—including lifeguarded beaches, summer camps, and childcare—that provide young people with safe summer experiences will not be possible if we cannot fill positions.
