SEATTLE - The Seattle Public Library Foundation invites Seattle residents to show their love for their library this Valentine’s season!
The Foundation is placing festive boxes and cards, designed by local artist Nina Painter, at 90 bookstores, breweries and bars, cafes, community centers, museums, and other locations around the city. Anyone can grab a card, write a note about why they love The Seattle Public Library, and drop it in the box – love letters will then be shared with library staff, displayed in branches, and featured on the Foundation’s website and social media. (Pictured left: A box at Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery in Georgetown.)
Love letters can be written (or drawn!) by anyone, in any language. For those unable to access a participating location, or who would prefer to submit online, a form is available to send a digital note at SupportSPL.org/LoveLetters.
Participants can also choose to sign up for updates from the Foundation about ways to champion your library. These include advocacy alerts from the Public Library Action Network to speak up for libraries to elected officials. Personal information will be detached from the cards and not shared.
The Foundation thanks the many local business and community partners involved in this campaign. The full list of participating locations can be found in the attachment.
