ree

Seattle, WA-Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is partnering with the Department of Neighborhoods (DON) to offer a number of opportunities for the community to participate in the development of the future Lake City Community Center. Join us at the following events to learn more about the redevelopment, share your input, and work with SPR and the design team to help shape the new Lake City Community Center!

Thursdays, August 14, 21, and 28 - Lake City Farmers Market

  • Time: 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.

  • Location: Albert Davis Park, 12526 27th Ave NE

Friday, August 15 – Ice Cream Social Open House

  • Time: 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.

  • Location: Akin Building, 12360 Lake City Way NE

These events will provide an opportunity to meet the design team and provide feedback on the community center design options which were informed by the feedback we received last year during the needs assessment phase.

This outreach will focus on the design of the two-floor community center space. Our goal is to listen to the community and gather input that will shape the design. We will also engage through an online survey that will be released in multiple languages (Amharic, Somali, Spanish, Tigrinya, Traditional Chinese, Ukrainian, Russian and Vietnamese) on August 14. Please see Parkways Blog for press release translation.

Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Seattle Office of Housing (OH) are excited to have Mercy Housing as the lead redeveloper for the Lake City Community Center. The Lake City Community Center redevelopment presents a unique opportunity to co-locate a new community center with 113 affordable rental homes all in one convenient location near the Lake City Branch Library and Albert Davis Park. This is the first development partnership between OH and SPR, enabling the City to pool resources to create much-needed affordable housing on top of a new community center. SPR will continue to own and operate the Lake City Community Center, 12531 28th Avenue NE., once it is redeveloped. The Center will continue to be an integral part of the Lake City neighborhood, serving as a hub for community activities and bringing people of all ages, abilities, and cultures together.
