Join us in celebrating the life and legacy of
Leon “Lee” Carter, a distinguished journalist, speechwriter, veteran, and pillar of Seattle’s media and civic community.
Born and raised in Chicago, Lee proudly served 11 years in the U.S. Army before moving to Seattle in 1968.
He began his broadcasting career at KAYC
radio and quickly rose to prominence as a
respected reporter with KING and KIRO
television stations. Lee also served as a noted speechwriter for Governor Dan Evans, leaving
an indelible mark on Washington State’s
political landscape.
