When: June 21, 2025 - Noon to 3 pm - Where:Northwest African American Museum Come join us to celebrate the unveiling of the "All Power to the People" Mural. The mural commemorates the commitment of the Seattle Black Panther Partners f ight for justice and freedom for all communities, with emphasis on Black and Brown communities who are often targets and subjected to police profiling and brutality. Many of us remember the Seattle Black Panther's 1970's Sydney Miller free breakfast program that fed thousands of children each year, and the Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center that was built to overcome disparities in health. The mural is a cumulation of community and art healing circles, and economic development sessions conducted by Equity Leadership Collaborative, due to a contract by the WA State Department of Commerce, Community Healing Project to support community healing of Black and Brown families who were impacted by the "War on Drugs" and violence. The mural will find it's resting place in Skyway, at the King County Seattle Black Panther Park and Community Garden in late September or early October 2025. The Park and Garden is a project of King County and Nurturing Roots, a Seattle-based 501c3 nonprofit led by Nyema Clark, Executive Director. Please come and celebrate with us. Aaron and Elmer Dixon and other former Seattle Black Panthers will be there, as well as local elected officials. Sonny Byers quartet, the Southside Church of Christ singers and Jeremy Dromgoole will provide the entertainment. There will be free food, resource and vendor tables, giveaways and an opportunity to meet the artist Myron Curry who painted the mural from a design by Tracy Brown. We look forward to seeing you there! The sponsor includes Healthy Smart Homes, Nurturing
Roots, WA State Department of Commerce and more. Please register for the event at: https://equityleadershipcollaborative.com/mural-unveiling-and-celebration
