FREE Events for kids with special needs

In about two weeks, we will be having our two annual climbing events in the Seattle area and we are getting excited at the prospect of climbing the walls at the following two locations:

Saturday, June 14 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Auburn Valley YMCA, 1620 Perimeter Rd, Auburn, WA 98001!

Sunday, June 15 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Northshore YMCA, 11811 NE 195th St, Bothell, WA 98011

These are FREE events for anyone with special needs, physical or developmental, including visually challenged / blind, hearing impaired / deaf, burn survivors and wounded warriors of all ages! Reply to this email to receive a registration packet! Or email us at courageouskidsclimbing@gmail.com.

We can accommodate anyone who weighs under 300-pounds, the weight limit of some of our equipment. Participants will not be forced to climb, but are welcome to just come and hang out with us in an all-inclusive environment.

This event is being sponsored by Rock Supremacy – THANK YOU! Their sponsorship helps to reduce the expenses that we incur when conducting these events around the western US. If you should conduct business with them or if you know them, please pass along the appreciation of all our participants for their support. (We are always looking for more sponsors to help cover our expenses!!!)

COACHES: We do have room for a few more coaches / belayers. We can also use a couple of non-climbing volunteers to help with registration and other non-climbing related tasks. All volunteers will be entered into our year-end raffle. We will be drawing two winners, one will receive a Gri Gri and the other a climbing helmet. These prizes have been provided by our friends at Petzl! You can support multiple events to increase your chances of winning!!!

FIREFIGHTERS AND OTHER FIRST RESPONDERS: All first responders are welcome at our events. We hope that the first responders will consider this an invitation to join us. If you know any first responders, please invite them to join us!

We would be happy to share our “First Responder Involvement” document that will help to explain how our events can help enhance the skills of first responders when working with people with special needs. Reply to this email and we will forward it to you.

MILITARY: Members of the local military, including the Guard or Reserve, are considered first responders, and are also invited to join us along with any Wounded Warriors who may want to try climbing!

JUNIOR MOUNTAINEERING: This is our program where we visit elementary schools and set-up slacklines, obstacle courses, talk about perseverance and have fun activities for the kids to participate in. We are also able to talk to the kids about meteorites, even letting them hold one. Contact us for more detailed information.

SUPPORT: We are always looking for organizations, businesses, and individuals to support our events.

GROCERY STORE REWARDS PROGRAMS: We are part of the Ridley’s Family Markets and Fred Meyer / Kroger rewards program. Contact us for more information.
