Bessie Walker, affectionately known as Tina, was born on September 16, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in Wichita, Kansas, and in 1965, she relocated to Seattle, WA, where she built a life full of love, family, and faith. Tina married James Walker, with whom she shared a 26-year marriage until his passing in 2017. Tina’s Family was her greatest pride and joy. She also dedicated many years to serving the Seattle Community, where she touched countless hearts with her vibrant personality and her ability to make people feel seen.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Walker, Parents Sammy and Alice, Grandsons Jaray and Dayvon, and siblings Margaret, Sammy, Michael, and David. Tina is survived by her children Marcus, Iris, and Tesino; her seven granddaughters Cenetra, Marcisa, Jazzmyn, Chideya, Natajia, Chanel, and Jemma; six great-grandchildren; and loving siblings Geraldine, Yvonne, Eugene, Roberta, Michelle, and Kimberly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and community.
Tina’s Celebration of Life will be held at
Rainier Beach Community Center
Sunday, June 22nd, 2025 at 2pm
Tina will be deeply missed.
