Our dear sister Elva was born on May 4th, 1937, in Yakima, Washington, to her parents, Tanzy and Audrey Livingston. She was the first daughter in a family of 13 children. Elva spent most of her life in Seattle, Washington, before returning to Yakima, where she passed away on March 7th, 2026.
Elva had a deep love of music and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was also passionate about gardening and took great joy in canning fruits and vegetables to share with family and friends. In 1954, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a faith that remained central to her life. She lived by the words of Matthew 6:33, “seeking first the kingdom,” and demonstrated her love for Jehovah through her zeal in the preaching work, continuing to share her hope with her nurses, near the end of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pope; her parents, Tanzy and Audrey Livingston; her brothers, Arthur and Richard Livingston; and her sisters, Kathryn Livingston and Avis Elmo.
Elva is survived by her siblings, Raymond and wife Margaret Livingston, Wayne Livingston, Don and wife Mae Livingston, Tanzy Livingston, Cheryl and husband Fred Chaney, Leonard and wife Tana Livingston, Sally Livingston, and Nyla Bivens; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. She loved being surrounded by family and friends and will be remembered for her faith, her love of music, her beautiful voice, and the care she showed to those around her.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 12229 68th Ave S, Seattle, WA. 98178.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jo Ann Mathis and all the friends who cared for Elva throughout her life. We look forward to the day we can see her again, when suffering will be no more.
