Seattle Mayor Katie B. Wilson today delivered a State of the City address which was rooted in the discipline of hope. Speaking to a full house at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, the mayor detailed her approach to the challenges of homelessness and gun violence; spoke to her vision of what Seattle can be; and unveiled an affordability agenda focused on affordable housing, affordable food, affordable childcare, and making Seattle an affordable place to build a small business.

She also touched on the Seahawks, the history of Pike Place Market, revealed that more than 6,000 people have already completed her Mayoral Renter’s Survey, shared a message for the city’s business leaders, and laid out a vision of a city with welcoming public spaces, vibrant local businesses, incredible things to do, and great ways to get around

The mayor’s address was preceded by a performance by Northwest Tap Connection and introduced by Ben Hunter.

The full speech as prepared for delivery is available on the mayor’s blog, and video is available on the Seattle Channel.
