Seattle, WA — August 4, 2026 — Seattle Neighborhood Group, in partnership with the Seattle Police Department, the Rainier Beach: A Beautiful Safe Place for Youth (ABSPY) Core Team, and local community organizations, will host a National Night Out event at Safeway Rainier Beach aimed at strengthening community relationships and advancing public safety.

The event will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Safeway Rainier Beach, located at 9262 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118.

National Night Out is a nationwide initiative designed to enhance relationships between residents, community-based organizations, and public safety agencies. The Rainier Beach event is part of a coordinated effort to activate a location identified through data as a priority public safety area and to foster positive community presence through engagement and partnership.

“This event reflects a coordinated, community-led approach to safety that prioritizes collaboration, visibility, and sustained engagement. By convening residents, partners, and public safety agencies in this space, we are reinforcing shared responsibility for community well-being.”

The event is supported by the Rainier Beach ABSPY initiative, a community-driven strategy focused on reducing violence and improving neighborhood conditions in Rainier Beach. ABSPY employs data-informed approaches, including hotspot identification, restorative justice programming, neighborhood guardianship, and community-led environmental improvements. Event Programming Includes:

Recreational activities facilitated by Double Dutch Divas
Arts programming in partnership with Rainier Beach Artist Collective
A community garden workshop led by Empower at the Bridge retired Seahawks Garry Gilliam
Parking lot litter clean-up in collaboration with Seattle Public Utilities
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) demonstrations and engagement activities with Seattle Police Department
Access to community-based service providers and resources

The event will also provide opportunities for residents to engage directly with neighborhood leaders, block captains, and partner organizations working to improve safety and quality of life in Rainier Beach.
