Miss Imani E. CarterYOUTH EARNS PRESTIGIOUS POSITIONS DESPITE COVID-19



The Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Largo High school’s class of 2021 is Miss Imani Evelanne Carter. Hailing from San Diego, CA. Imani comes from a highly-motivated family with an outstanding military background; her mother Shannon Nunnery-Carter, an active duty Nurse in the Air Force ; her father Emilio Carter, a retired Chief Petty Officer in a the Navy; her brother Xavier Carter currenting creating strong pathways in his AFJROTC Program. Though born in the state of Washington, Imani has traveled and lived in California, Hawaii, and Maryland, sharing her passion for excellence, creativity and community service.

Along the way Imani has excelled in multiple STEM programs while maintaining a 4.0 to 4.3 GPA, over her four years of high school. She was president of the AppreciAsian Club, Vice President of Student Government Association, Parliamentarian of National Honor Society, Ambassador of UMD Talent Search, and Deputy Group Commander of the AFJROTC program.

Imani E. Carter is a recipient of the Air Force Cadet Officer Mentor Association Scholarship. She has earned her Medical Assistant Certification through the Health and Bio Sciences program and has been accepted into the University of Maryland College Park. She is well on her way in charting her path as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Air Force, where she aspires to serve her nation as a medical scientist.

Imani is the granddaughter of Alicia Nunnery and the late Sylvester Ford. Her paternal grandmother Darlene Carter, her aunties Queen and Quinn, uncles Prince and Denny are overjoyed about her success in continuing our family’s legacy of academic excellence and humble service.
