SEA Airport to Sunset the Free Checkpoint Reservation Program After the Thanksgiving Holiday

Earlier today, we announced the sunsetting of the SEA Spot Saver program. Starting November 30, 2026, SEA Spot Saver will no longer be available. All reservations booked from now until November 29 will be honored at TSA Checkpoint 4.

Spot Saver is a popular program for passengers, and we know you’ve promoted it to your viewers too, so thank you for that. You may have some questions about why this program is going away. We understand, because we loved it too.

SEA has grown over the years. We are currently the 11th busiest airport in the country, yet the most space-constrained major airport. This led to some longer checkpoint wait times in the past. We developed and launched SEA Spot Saver in 2021 as one way to help manage those wait times while we looked at longer-term solutions to keep up with growth.

Those are now in place. We’ve completed the new Checkpoint 1 (in June 2025), and redesigned Checkpoint 6 (which opened in late 2025) under the UpgradeSEA program. With more lanes and additional tools in place, lines have been moving quickly, with over 94% of travelers getting through in 20 minutes or less this year. In 2025, 93% of travelers went through in 20 minutes or less. The last two years, 99% have gone through is 30 minutes or less.

Passengers have noticed it too! Because general lines are moving so well, people are using the Spot Saver program less. We know Spot Saver has a lot of dedicated fans, but we also know that many people arrive and find it’s faster to pick an open General Screening lane instead of waiting for a reservation – and that’s ok! It’s exactly what we hoped for with all this planning.
