The Bush School stopped for a tour at The Facts Newspaper

On Monday, September 30th, second grade students from The Bush School did a walking tour of the Madrona neighborhood. For some students, a stop on their tour was The Facts Newspaper. Students learned about how The Facts fills a need in our community to stay informed. They learned that Fitzgerald Beaver first started the business over 50 years ago. The students are studying about how communities in our city get their wants and needs met. Also while at The Facts, they learned a bit about the history of the neighborhood.

The process of students going to a newspaper office will help them get acquainted with the process of how the written word takes shape from the initial concept into a form that they can hold in their hands and read. This concept will also become relevant in their future academic endeavors when issues of format, printing, and even thesis binding become relevant.
