Active Imagination

Your imagination can reframe the way you think—here’s how.

Your imagination is more powerful than you think. It’s not just for daydreamers or artists—it’s a God-given tool that can shift the way you see your life. What you allow yourself to picture in your mind has the ability to shape your mentality, your choices, and ultimately your future.

Here’s the problem: most people use their imagination against themselves. Instead of envisioning healing, growth, or possibility, they replay worst-case scenarios. They rehearse failures that haven’t happened yet. Fear feeds off imagination, twisting it into anxiety. But faith also feeds on imagination—faith asks you to see what isn’t visible yet and believe it’s possible.

Let me clarify: I’m not talking about escaping reality. I’m talking about reframing it. Active imagination takes the raw material of your life—the pain, the mistakes, the dreams—and places them in a new frame. It’s training your mind to see obstacles as opportunities and setbacks as setups.

Think about it this way: before your actions ever shift, your perspective must. Before you walk into a new future, you have to be able to see one.

Here’s the challenge: what vision are you rehearsing in your mind every day? Are you imagining defeat, or are you imagining victory? Are you picturing yourself bound by the past, or free and walking in purpose?

Words of Wisdom by Char of the Week: Your mentality will follow the pictures you allow your mind to dwell on. So be intentional. See yourself healed. See yourself whole. See yourself walking in the fullness of what God has called you to. Because what you imagine today can reframe how you live tomorrow.
