Seattle, WA — September 2, 2025 — Thousands of people in recovery, along with families, providers, and allies, will gather at T-Mobile Park on Sunday, September 14, 2025 for the 5th Anniversary of Recovery Day at the Mariners (#Root4Recovery), presented by the Washington Recovery Alliance (WRA) in partnership with the Seattle Mariners.
Recovery Day at the Mariners is one of the largest annual recovery celebrations in the United States. This year’s theme, “Wellness in Recovery,” highlights the many pathways to wellness — from physical fitness to mindfulness — and celebrates champions across Washington who are making recovery visible.
“This 5th year of Recovery Day at the Mariners is more than a milestone, it’s a movement. By standing together in one of the largest venues in Washington, we show that recovery is real, stigma has no place here, and healing is worth celebrating.,” said Monika Whitfield, Executive Director of the Washington Recovery Alliance,” said Monika Whitfield, Executive Director of the Washington Recovery Alliance.
Rally & March The morning begins at Occidental Square with emcees Victor Estrada and Alysse Bryson leading the rally, march, and countdown to Recovery Day at the ballpark.
● Recovery Rally Speaker: Mona Miller A proud member of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, Mona Miller is a recovery and reentry leader whose story of resilience and service has inspired communities across 1 Washington. She leads the Tribe’s Reentry and Community Family Services departments, offering wraparound support to individuals and families impacted by substance use and incarceration.
● Recovery Rally Speaker: Ian Acker Founder and former Executive Director of Fit To Recover, Acker built a thriving recovery community around four pillars: exercise, nutrition, creative expression, and service. Since its opening in 2015, Fit To Recover has grown into a hub where more than 700 people each week find belonging, wellness, and purpose in recovery.
First Pitch & On-Field Recognition
This year’s ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Ashley McGirt and Scott Brown, recognized as Recovery Champions. McGirt, a psychotherapist and founder of the Therapy Fund Foundation, is a national leader in racial trauma healing and mental health equity. Brown, President of Recovery Beyond’s Peer Advisory Council, uses outdoor adventures like hiking and mountaineering to build community and joy in recovery. On the field at T-Mobile Park, fans will also meet the 2025 Recovery Champions, recognized for their extraordinary contributions to recovery across Washington:
