YWCA brings Dr. Mae Jemison to Seattle The event is inspired by Dr. Jemison’s journey as the first Black woman in space

YWCA brings keynote speaker Dr. Mae Jemison (engineer, educator, phy-

sician, and rst Black woman in space) to their Inspire Luncheon on Sep-

tember 19 at The Westin Seattle and livestream online. This year’s theme

designed to help 16- to 24-year-old girls and women of color advance in

STEM career and education opportunities by pairing participants to STEM

Gifts inspired by the event support YWCA programs across King and Snohomish counties like emer-

gency and permanent housing; gender-based violence services; and job training.
