Mayor Durkan To Transmit Fare Share Legislation to Create a Fair Wage for Uber and Lyft Drivers
Seattle (August 12, 2020) – Tomorrow at 12:30 PM Mayor Durkan will joined by MLK Labor Executive Secretary-Treasurer Nicole Grant and Seattle-based TNC drivers to announce the transmission of her Fare Share plan to create a fair wage for Uber and Lyft drivers in Seattle. This announcement follows the completion of an independent study and months of deep community outreach conducted to determine a fair wage that includes compensation for expenses and that pays drivers for all their time. Mayor Durkan’s Fare Share plan was initially announced in September of 2019 and passed unanimously by the City Council in November of that year.
